diy project {the sectional}

before & after. i decided that the living room with it's multi-angled walls needed a sofa that was ultra simple. sis spotted the 5 piece late 70s kroehler on craigslist and i instantly knew that it was too good to pass up. challenge...upholstery. something that i've never done. i have made slip covers. this project is a blend (with shortcuts on the upholstery side). progress has been slow--with much rework. fabric is linen/cotton (from mom's stash) so wrinkles will show. sis made the feather pillow to soften the otherwise modern shape. mom is coming on Friday--she thinks 3 days for one corner is too much! i'm hoping we'll whip out 2 more sections now that i've worked through the gotchas. without my sister's insight i would still be stitching section #1. thanks sis.

bird, 60s modern

we went to the best estate sale ever. i came home with way too many lovelies. this is one of two 60s David Majchrzak bird ink drawings--presently perched next to my second aluminum christmas tree.

minimal xmas

i've been moving furniture around. looking for a comfy couch for the living room. any ideas? sis and i scored on a mid-century credenza over the holiday. loving it upstairs. and how lucky am i. mom is letting me borrow her lucite purse collection. sweetness all around. and i even did some decorating for the holidays. my vintage aluminum christmas tree. my vintage pink bottle tree and lights.

i'm trying to envision a paint color. i prefer a soft translucent black. want to modernize the look. having trouble finding a paint color i love. i'm on my 4th sample batch. so i've resorted to playing with photoshop. not sure if black will a tad much for the neighborhood. good thing the house is obscured from the street view.

week 1

random pictures of my home. a bit of progress on the move. i'm taking my time and feeling the space. bill was genius. i love his play with light and each window has a view. totally happy.

a peak at the inside. not sure yet about my rya rugs. love all my views out back. i have plans for the outbuilding--my studio! considering changing shelving in the dining room from black to white. today was a cleaning day.
