{abstract}

i couldn't resist this canvas with frame at the local thrift store. so my wonderful niece and i painted it.
in progress...
needs more dimension

{chrome explosion}

stunning if I say so myself

sis came up for the holidays. we went to an amazing local neighborhood sale during a major snow storm and managed to come home with loads of chrome. (we would have had even more, but a local shop dealer was our competition).

my new etagere...needs editing

& my new bar/side board in my bedroom. painting is in process but sis wanted to help me style the room. (amazing, right!!!)

more pictures of my new chrome to follow including
cylinder lamps {in the bedroom}
end table {in the family room}

here's the sale listing--hopefully it will display

{what i got}

as if i didn't have enough projects in the air. i stumbled upon this 70s oh-so-milo-baughman aztec themed sectional on CL.

price. cost of gas.

i couldn't resist that. i wanted to know if a sectional would fit. for a split second i was even kind of rocking the aztec 70s velveteen, in a boho chic kind of way, but then again it was pitch black at the time.

what was i thinking. of course they will eventually have to be white

{what i got}

had a great day junking today.

bought an Ib Kofod-Larsen Denmark lounge chair (a lot of cleaning required) & a round mid-century log holder (so sweet) from the wildest household sale ever. was overwhelmed with the volume of stuff they had accumulated. my future flashed before me.

it didn't stop me though.
but i had to hold back!
may go back in the morning/
it was the second day of the sale; & i'm imagining what was missed

here's a preview of the chair. isn't this one gorgeous.

this exact table, attributed to milo baughman and strikingly similar to the one i thrifted a few years back (but oval shape), currently at the lake ave thrift shop for $200. i bet someone already snatched up the chairs. likely same owner as my coffee table purchase from last week.

i swoon over that 70s chrome!

{what i got}

thrifted yet another coffee table. totally into this rosewood and steel 70s piece, but not sure if it fits the space.

deciding between the three I now have: 60s round paul mccobb style; this 70s milo baughman style; or, my 80s massive white formica (which actually was mauve but painted white). it will depend on the eventual seating i find.

a bit strange that i keep buying coffee tables.

{jeannie's smoking]

love my new smoky decanter, the tall one. actually it replaces the same exact decanter that was missing it's stopper.

discovered a local junk shop through CL. they have a presence on CL but claim they haven't officially opened. i thought i'd wander over to check out their space as i am in need of some wood shelving for my walk in closet. wild was an understatement. lots of sneezing, if you know what i mean.

this baby has a 'made in italy' sticker. kind of resembles blenko 920 decanter. it's likely 60s Empoli Tuscany glass.

sweet. you know how much i love the 60s.

{fall}

it was warm and cloudy today.

i put in a tiny garlic patch.

the new garden is small but will expand with time.

last weekend we added currants and gooseberries to the rear berm. happy with the berry patch, although it doesn't get much sun. hoping for the best.

i also cleaned the gutters on the flat roof. it took longer than i thought. not easy of a reach. i created this make shift rake on my new long painting pole. with lots of patience, i got most of remainder of the pine needles and then i flushed the rest.

will hire out the rear side if the ladder doesn't reach. soon i will working only on inside projects. looking forward to getting a fresh coat of paint on all my surfaces.

{Bill, looks good}

mom and i moved the coffee table back in front of the sectional. it's too big. but the round 60s one i bought today at RMc sale looks shabby for the space.

Bill was absolutely right. with this sort of layout one can enjoy the (future restored) japanese garden, and a fire in the fireplace. not perfect yet, but overall good vive. now i can edit with time and find replacement pieces. the primitive cupboard is now on the back wall.

{Bill and sis aren't into the 60s orange still life. i still love it.}

i should study Bill's pictures more.

not sure if i'll hang the george nelson globe over the milo table or bring out one of my sputnik chandeliers.

{Bill was here...}

so what happens when the architect who designed the house you live in and you love... just happens to stop over.

after some wine and great chow.

one of us ends up moving furniture around. something about lines....

I wanted to just scream.

now what?

{americana}

yesterday mom and i went to the most amazing little household sale full of americana and primitives. i was surprised there was so much left as it was 2 hours before closing. if i had room left i would have brought a few americana pieces home with me.

we dragged, yes dragged, my red primitive cupboard down the steps out of my bedroom. i've hated it up there since i put it there a year ago. it's landed into my living room for now. i love primitives. always will.
feels completely cluttered now in my living room, but my mexican tin collection looks amazing against the blood red stain. i gave my black modern painting a try here too. it's too small. will paint a massive one over the winter.

{so need a new camera. this one is completely out of focus. and a lampshade for cupids would be a good score.}
